These shields are constructed in a traditional manner using individual 12mm thick pine or spruce planks of wood using water resistant wood glue.

The front and rear faces of these shields are covered with linen fabric with the shield edge being wrapped and strengthened with rawhide.

The front and rear faces of the shield are scorched prior to the fabric being bonded to the wood they are then ready for their designs to be painted by hand. A top coat of varnish is applied to aid with weather proofing.

(the front face of the shield will carry your design, the rear face will be a solid colour matching the main front colour)

The shield is completed with an Oak full-length handle, strengthening bars and a steel centre boss.

Our latest versions have two strap attaching points incorporated into the handle which allow a sturdy leather carrying strap to be attached / detached. The carrying strap allows you to move around while taking the weight off your hands and arms, this way the shield can be easily carried on your back.

A custom range of sizes and designs are able to be produced for you.

The only measurement we need to make a custom sized shield is the length of your forearm (from elbow to the knuckles past your wrist) this will ensure the shield is the correct size for you.
